Student Team Selected to Represent Wake Forest in KPMG Case Competition

Congratulations to Wake Forest University Schools of Business students Mike Allen (MSA ’12), Dan Kim (’13), Stephanie Gifford (’12) and Greg Gorman (’12). They will represent Wake Forest at the KPMG International Case Competition semi-final on January 20 in Miami, Florida.

Allen is a Master of Science in Accountancy candidate. Kim and Gifford are Finance majors and Gorman is a Business and Enterprise management major.

“Team Wake” was selected after participating in a campus competition that took place on October 3. Megan Petitt (MSA ’12) and Swayze Smartt (MSA ’12), two of the members of the Wake Forest team that won the global championship title last year at the KPMG International Case Competition in Istanbul, Turkey, gave a presentation on September 30 to campus teams before they picked up their cases. The former champs offered advice and suggested “do’s and don’ts” of case preparation.

“Team Wake stood out among a record number of teams that participated in this year’s campus competition. The competition was intense this year but Team Wake did an exceptional job presenting creative and well-articulated solutions to the Louis Vuitton case. I know that Stephanie, Dan, Mike, and Greg will represent Wake Forest well as they progress to the next level of the competition. We all are wishing them the best as they do so!” said Anna Cianci, Assistant Professor of Accounting and Faculty Advisor for the KPMG Competition Team.

The Wake Forest team will compete against University of Virginia, Ole Miss, Florida State and North Carolina A&T in the semi-final competition.

“All of the Wake Forest teams did a fantastic job in the campus competition,” said Susan Hopkins, Primary Recruiter at Wake Forest for KPMG LLP. “A special thanks goes to Dr. Cianci, Dr. Aldhizer, Swayze Smartt and Megan Petitt for their help with the competition.”
