The Wake Forest School of Business participated in the 12th annual Hit the Bricks on Thursday, October 2nd. A Wake Forest tradition, Hit the Bricks is an eight-hour relay race along the brick paths of Hearn Plaza. The race is run in honor of Brian Piccolo, a Wake Forest alumnus and Chicago Bears running back who, at the age of 26, died from cancer.
This year 70 participants represented the School of Business in a collection of seven teams. Four faculty, staff and Winston-Salem Evening MBA teams joined the race along with one team of Full-Time MBA representatives and two teams of MS in Accountancy representatives. Team members ran or walked wearing weighted backpacks earning laps for their team. Some even participated in the Danny Manning lap, bouncing basketballs around the plaza for bonus points! We received many compliments from the organizers about the sizable School of Business presence this year, so many thanks to all our participants and supporters.
The day concluded with a ceremonial remembrance lap, a moment of silence, lighting of honorary luminaries and closing remarks.
