Kemper Scholars Program

Kemper Scholar Information Sessions to be held:  Thursday, November 19th from 11:00-12:00 (noon) in Kirby B02 and Monday, November 30th 4:30-5:30 pm in Kirby B02.

The Kemper Scholars Program offers outstanding talented, motivated students an opportunity to prepare for leadership and service, especially in the fields of administration and business. The Program is an integrated scholarship/summer project experience sponsored by the Kemper Foundation. Wake Forest is honored to be among a select group of less than twenty U.S. schools which offer this program. For detailed information, please read Facts in Brief.

Benefits:

  • $3,000 - $8,000 scholarship per year for sophomore, junior and senior years.
  • $2,000 - $6,900 summer project stipends for two years
  • A non-profit internship in Chicago during the sophomore summer.
  • Participation in the annual Kemper Scholars Conference.
  • Association with an exceptional Foundation offering a commitment to undergraduate education.

Requirements:

  • Record of academic achievement, extracurricular activity, leadership ability with interest in liberal arts and curiosity in administration and business.
  • Intellectual curiosity, independence, maturity, and flexibility.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Commitment to remaining in the program for the remainder of your undergraduate education.

How Do I Apply for the Kemper Scholars Program?

  • Download and complete the application.
    Part 1 - Kemper Scholarship Application Form
    Part 2 - Kemper Scholarship Application Form
  • Attach supporting documents (college and high school transcripts, SAT or ACT test results, and two letters of recommendation with at least one from a college professor). Then submit the package of materials to:

    or

    Bring the package to Lisa Wilkinson, Kirby 212.
  • Applicants will be interviewed by the Kemper Scholars Selection Committee (approx. 20 minutes) in spring semester.
  • The top three candidates recommended by the Scholars Selection Committee will interview with Dr. Ryan LaHurd, Executive Director of the Kemper Foundation, in spring semester.
  • Deadline for submitting your application is Tuesday, January 15, 2010.
