Babcock School Finance Team Wins National Competition

WINSTON-SALEM, NC — Members of the Finance Club at Wake Forest University’s Babcock Graduate School of Management took top honors at the 2007 Wachovia Finance Case Competition held March 2, 2007.

“This student team demonstrated real character during this competition,” says Rob Nash, associate professor and Orr Fellow in Finance. “They exemplify some of the best qualities of the Wake Forest MBA student body—initiative, teamwork and diligence—as well as exceptional professional and academic skills.”

Team members include Daniel Beaudry, Tom Bove, Karl Burns, Varsha Jain and Chris Smith. The competition, sponsored by Wachovia Center for Corporate Finance, was held at the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. Other teams competing included the University of Virginia (Darden), UCLA (Anderson), Emory University (Goizueta), and UNC (Kenan-Flagler).

The Babcock Finance Club promotes understanding of finance career tracks for first and second year students through guest speakers, corporate visits and interaction with students and faculty. It also strengthens alumni relationships to support placement of Babcock students in finance careers.
