New Web Site Launched for the Wake Forest University Schools of Business
A new web site for the Wake Forest University Schools of Business was launched on July 1. The new site is a merger of separate sites previously dedicated to the Babcock Graduate School of Management and Calloway School of Business and Accountancy.
The new combined graduate and undergraduate business site can be found at business.wfu.edu. Visitors can get the latest news about the schools, learn about degrees and programs offered, find upcoming events, read about their fellow students and alumni, and become more familiar with the faculty and staff, plus much more. The complete re-design will be introduced in phases, the first of which involved merging the primary elements of the two former sites and a substantial graphics change. Phase 2, which will take place in the Fall and Winter, will include new functionality and even more new content.
We believe that the new site will enable prospective Schools of Business students to understand more thoroughly what makes business education at Wake Forest distinctive and highlight resources that are available now with the combined schools. The graphic look of the site was changed so it more closely mirrors visual elements used on the main University site which was updated this past Spring.
The majority of the web site merger and re-design was completed internally. Karen Frekko (’98, MBA ’08), associate director of information technology for the Schools of Business, managed all technical aspects of the project and worked with the School’s marketing and communications team to develop a new navigation structure that uses the content management system already in place. The new site has been under development since March.
As the team looks to Phase 2 of the project, the goal is to continue to introduce more innovative and interactive content to attract students who have become accustomed to learning and growing in a world driven by technology and the ever-changing world of social media and social networking. The school also plans to provide more benefits for Schools of Business alumni.
The launch coincides with the official merger of the graduate and undergraduate business schools at Wake Forest University and is another step necessary to fulfill the promise of becoming one school. The Babcock Graduate School of Management and the Calloway School of Business and Accountancy will combine in a new space on campus that will house the entire faculty as well as serve as a hub for student activities. The project will be completed in three phases, the first of which will be finalized in the Fall of 2010.
“We need to be one business education enterprise supporting undergraduate and graduate programs, not two separate and unrelated organizations,” said Steve Reinemund, Wake Forest Dean of Business. “Only then can we ignite our true potential as a passionate place to learn, teach, mentor and serve that capitalizes on our unique, intimate collegiate environment.”
