Wake Forest University Schools of Business Finishes 2nd in ACGå¨ Cup MBA Competition
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A team of students from the Wake Forest University Schools of Business MBA for Working Professionals program in Charlotte placed 2nd in the ACG Cup competition held last month in Raleigh.
Students representing Wake Forest included: Matt Decker, Shannon Osborne, Mike Staples and Alfonso Straffon. They are first-year MBA students who attend evening classes at the Wake Forest University Charlotte Center.
They earned $500 for winning at the Wake Forest intra-campus level and $3,000 for the state ACG® Cup round.
“We are very proud of the success of these students. Between their full-time jobs, school and family life, it took an extraordinary effort to find the time necessary to study and prepare for this competition,” said Leslye Gervasi, Director of Wake Forest Charlotte MBA Programs.
The ACG® Raleigh Durham chapter hosted the competition on Feb. 25 in which NC State University finished 1st, Wake Forest University placed 2nd and UNC Chapel Hill was 3rd.
During the case competition, students assumed the role of a merger and acquisition (M&A) advisory team and made recommendations to a private equity firm. Members of the Raleigh-area ACG Chapter served as judges.
