Learn through experience and experience the results
Many of our courses rely on the case method, which calls for discussion of critical situations that executives and managers have faced in different industries. Working with real information, you'll hone your own decisionmaking abilities and learn to see how to creatively address tough business problems.
At Wake Forest Schools of Business, you will also have the chance to work as a project consultant in our Wake Forest Business Solutions or do a field study program with a real company. The real-world experience adds value to your education, and your education, in turn, adds value to the real world.
Think entrepreneurially
Entrepreneur magazine ranks our Angell Center for Entrepreneurship 10th nationally and rates Stan Mandel, executive professor and the center’s founder and director, third among the nation’s best entrepreneurship program directors.
The center builds students’ entrepreneurial skills through internships, competitions, and programs, including:
- The Demon Incubator for fledgling companies – including some started by Wake Forest students and alumni
- Family Business Center membership programs in the North Carolina Triad and Charlotte metro areas
Build resume experience
We encourage--and in some cases require--students to participate in internships. Internships are a great way to gain on-the-job experience, build skills, make contacts and "try on" careers.
Understand the world
Our programs give students ample opportunities to study internationally to better understand the global and diverse environment in which business operates.
The Flow Institute for International Studies helps students develop their understanding of other countries’ economies, businesses and cultures through study tours, speakers and seminars. Students may choose from several two-week international study tours, which are taken in May. Recent tours have included:
- Central Europe (Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia)
- Japan
- Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico)
- PR China/Hong Kong
Trips include company visits, meetings with business and government leaders and tours of significant cultural and historical sites. The trips help you understand the nuances of how business is conducted in different parts of the world and how different cultures deal with common business challenges.
