Wake Forest MBA Program Alumnus Named CFO of the Year

CHARLOTTE, NC – James E. (Jamie) Harris (MBA ’98) is the recipient of a Charlotte Business Journal “CFO of the Year” award in the large public company category. Harris is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated in Charlotte. He earned the honor for his financial management skills, strategic thinking, and demonstrated commitment to fiscal integrity and accountability.

“I am very blessed with my opportunity to work with Coca-Cola Consolidated as it is a company with a culture of very high integrity, great people, great brands and it is just a fun business. This is really recognition of my company, my finance team and all of the people at Coke because they have provided me a great environment to excel," said Harris.

Harris has served in his current position since January of 2009. In this role, he is responsible for corporate finance, treasury, accounting, risk management, and employee benefits. He was a Director and member of the Audit Committee of Coca-Cola Bottling from 2003-2008. Harris was previously Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of MedCath from 1999-2008.

He earned his Wake Forest MBA in 1998 and credits that educational experience for helping him address complex organizational challenges. “The challenges require significant leadership and contributions from a broad and diverse group of people. Learning how to address these challenges while maintaining and building trusting relationships has proven to be extremely valuable.”

The awards recognize financial professionals in the 16-county Charlotte region for outstanding performance at their organizations. The nominations were evaluated by Financial Executives International, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Harris received the award Thursday during a luncheon at the Hilton Charlotte Center City Hotel.
