For the second year, and in conjunction with Professor Roger Beahm’s Asia Global Immersion Course, the School of Business hosted An Evening with the School of Business at the Crowne Plaza Shanghai Fudan hotel, next to Fudan University in Shanghai May 14. Prior to the event, The Global Immersion group, including three faculty members and 28 MBA students, spent two weeks experiencing the sights and sounds of Russia, India, and China.
When the Global Immersion group arrived in Shanghai, they joined incoming and current School of Business students, alumni, and parents from various cities in China. Alumni were invited to attend Back to the Classroom: The Health of the global Economy – A Data Driven Explanation with Dr. Mark Johnson, Teaching Professor. Incoming students attended Meet a Career Coach with Sharron Vogler, Career Coach and Senior Associate Director of Market Readiness and Employment.
Following the breakout sessions, attendees enjoyed a cocktail reception, dinner, and an alumni panel discussion moderated by Stacy Owen, Executive Director of Alumni Engagement. Three highly regarded alumni participated in the panel: Xia Ding (MBA ‘96), President of International Fashion and VP of JD.com; Jun Tu (MBA ‘94), CFO of IHG Greater China; and Helen Hu (MBA ‘97), CFO of Duke Kunshan University. These alumni shared how their professional journeys led them to their leadership positions, including the role Wake Forest played in contributing to their successes. The panel concluded with advice to those who were at an earlier stage in their careers and taking questions from the audience.
Earlier in the day, incoming students and parents from both the School of Business and Wake Forest participated in a workshop that included an overview of Wake Forest, student panel, and networking event. View photos from the event.
