Jacob Oster (MSA ’20) is among 89 winners of the 2020 Elijah Watt Sells Award, one of the most notable certified public accountant exam honors in the country. For the 9th consecutive year, a Wake Forest University School of Business graduate has been recognized with this award.

CPA candidates must have a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Exam to receive the award, as well as pass all four sections of the exam on their first attempt and have completed all testing in 2020. Nearly 75,000 individuals sat for the CPA Exam in 2020. The Elijah Watt Sells Award program was established by the American Institute of CPAs in 1923.

“This award represents years of academic work and months of rigorous study. More significantly, it represents how I was encouraged and supported by so many people along the way, including my professors, fellow students, family and friends,” Oster said. “I am humbled and grateful for their support, and I know that without them, receiving this award would not have been possible. The award is especially meaningful to me as a reminder of how others have invested in my life and as motivation to do the same for others.”

Oster currently serves as an audit staff at Elliott Davis in Greenville, S.C. Elliott Davis is a top forty U.S. accounting firm.
