Former South Carolina Congressman Bob Inglis will speak to students, faculty and staff at 6:00pm on Thursday, January 15th in Broyhill Auditorium in Farrell Hall on “Is Capitalism the Problem for Sustainability?” A pizza reception will preceed the talk at 5:30pm.

Bob Inglis will talk about market-based approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. He represented South Carolina for twelve years before losing his primary election in 2011 because he asserted that climate change was real. Since that time, he launched the Energy and Enterprise Initiative.

Recent speaking engagements include Harvard University and Boston College, and he has spoken at more than 100 college campuses in the last two years.

Inglis will also speak the students, faculty and staff at the School of Law at noon on “The Climate Conscience of a Conservative” in Room 1312 of the Worrell Professional Center. Lunch will be served.

The visit is sponsored by the BB&T Center for the Study of Capitalism, Net Impact, the Environmental Law Society and the MA in Sustainability program. The evening event is open to all students, faculty, staff and the general public.
