Babcock Students Record Second Impressive Showing at Tulane Finance Competition

A team of first-year MBA students from Wake Forest produced a second impressive showing of the spring by finishing second at the Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence Finance Case Competition at Tulane University in New Orleans.

Students Tom Bove, Karl Burns, Varsha Jain and Sakshi Sharda had five hours to value a firm and create presentation materials without the help of financial templates or outside resources. JD/MBA candidate Daniel Beaudry helped coordinate the team’s effort as it finished second to Emory. Other schools competing included South Carolina (third), UNC-Chapel Hill, Rice, Vanderbilt, Washington University (St. Louis) and host Tulane.

Ajay Patel, Dean and Babcock Research Professor of Finance, expressed pride in the team’s performance, which followed a victory in the Wachovia Finance Case Competition at UNC-Chapel Hill earlier in the semester. “This demonstrates that our finance students and faculty are world-class,” he said.
