Global Laureates Academy – WFUSB Edition
Overview: The Global Laureates Academy Certificate Program (WFUSB Edition) is an immersive series designed to develop students’ intercultural skills and global business readiness.
By leveraging insights from cultural frameworks and real-world business practices, this program equips students with the tools to navigate and succeed in diverse cultural and organizational environments.
Participants will strengthen their understanding of cultural dimensions, enhance their intercultural communication abilities, and apply global perspectives to business challenges.
This is an interdisciplinary program open to students from the School of Business, Wake Forest University, and designated partner institutions.
What You Can Expect: Students will engage in interactive workshops, apply intercultural frameworks to business challenges, and complete optional deliverables designed to reinforce practical skills.
Key components of the program include:
- Introduction to Intercultural Business Practices:
- Explore major cultural frameworks (e.g., Hofstede’s Cultural Dimensions, GLOBE Project Leadership Styles).
- Understand how cultural differences impact communication, negotiation, teamwork, and decision-making in business environments.
- Building Intercultural Skills:
- Complete the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Assessment to gain insights into personal intercultural strengths and areas for growth.
- Participate in experiential activities and simulations that enhance adaptability and effectiveness when working across cultures.
- Global Business Analysis:
- Apply analytical tools such as PESTEL (Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Environmental, Legal) to assess global business environments.
- Examine how cultural factors interact with external market forces to influence business operations across regions.
- Case Studies and Applications:
- Analyze real-world business cases involving cross-cultural challenges and opportunities.
- Participate in group discussions to reflect on strategies that contributed to business success or difficulties in global ventures.
- Intercultural Development Plan:
- Build your own intercultural development plan by setting personal goals and identifying ways to grow your cultural awareness and communication skills, using what you’ve learned from the IDI and workshops.
- Team up with classmates to share ideas, give and get feedback, and support each other in applying intercultural skills in real-world school, work, or community situations.
