Biography

Ann Brooks received her BBA and Master of Accounting from the University of New Mexico (UNM) in 1994 and 2000 respectively. She joined Wake Forest University in July 2020 as a senior lecturer. Ann recently retired from the University of New Mexico (UNM) after teaching as a principal lecturer for 20 years. While at UNM, Ann taught governmental accounting and professional accounting at the graduate level, which emphasized professional ethics and corporate governance. At the undergraduate level, she taught financial and managerial accounting. She is considered a leading distance learning expert in developing, training and teaching in online environments.

Ann continues to be professionally active through her consulting, which provides financial, cost management, corporate governance, risk analysis, strategic and operational services to governmental, not-for-profit and private entities. Ann also serves on the Board of Directors of Nusenda Credit Union and provides reviews and creates online material for several financial, intermediate and managerial accounting textbooks. Prior to her appointments at WFU and UNM, she was a senior auditor for 4 years at Arthur Andersen and a part-time instructor for 20 years at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM).
