Wake Forest University Schools of Business Uses Technology to Reach Out to Prospective Students

Wake Forest University was among 56 of the world’s business schools to take part in a “virtual” MBA recruitment event on Nov. 22 & 23. Thousands of students from 125 countries in North America, Europe and Asia converged online to participate in the GMATCH Virtual MBA Fair, organized by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC).

Members of the WFU graduate business admissions team took part in a live chat session to offer advice, answer questions, and provide information to prospective students throughout the world. “Prospective MBA students were able to participate and get instant information, free-of-charge, from the comfort of their own homes,” said Carrie Ross, senior associate director of graduate business admissions.

“We answered straightforward questions about scholarships, GMAT scores, and the cost of living–things that MBA applicants can be somewhat reluctant to ask in a traditional admissions fair event setting,” said Stacy Poindexter Owen, director of graduate business admissions.

Wake Forest had a “virtual booth” where MBA candidates could stop in to learn more about the Full-time MBA program concentrations, rankings, diversity and a $100 application fee waiver available to those applying before Jan. 1. Candidates had an option to hang out in a “virtual networking lounge” to get information about a variety of schools. The GMATCH Virtual MBA Fair also included workshops about how to better prepare for the GMAT exam.
