Jeff Immelt, GE CEO, to Discuss Job Creation, Innovation and Competition in a Global Economy

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest University Schools of Business is pleased to announce the Broyhill Executive Lecture Series Leading Out Loud fall schedule.

“Developing Global Leaders for a Global Economy” will be held Tuesday, October 4 at 4:30 p.m. in the Worrell Professional Center auditorium, room 1312. The event is free and open to the public. A capacity crowd is expected and Wake Forest students, faculty and staff will have priority seating.

“We are honored to host Jeff Immelt and an outstanding group of talented leaders who are willing to share their experiences and wisdom to provide Wake Forest University Schools of Business students with a greater world view,” said Dean of Business Steve Reinemund. “We appreciate the support of the Broyhill Family Foundation for making this speaker series possible.”

October 4 is also “GE Day” at the Schools of Business as students have the opportunity to meet with GE representatives to discuss career and leadership development opportunities.

Immelt joined GE in 1982 and has been Chairman for the past 10 years. Barron’s has named him one the “World’s Best CEOs” three times. Since he began serving as CEO, GE has been named “America’s Most Admired Company” by Fortune magazine and one of “The World’s Most Respected Companies” in polls by Barron’s and The Financial Times.

In February, President Barack Obama appointed Immelt the Chairperson of his Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Immelt is also a member of The Business Council. He earned a BA degree in applied mathematics from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard University.
