President Wente shares advice, words of wisdom with Charlotte MBA students

School of Business MBA students had an opportunity to share their experiences with Wake Forest University President Susan Wente during her recent visit to the WFU Charlotte Center.

Wente engaged with students on August 30 to hear why they chose the Wake MBA and to relay hopes as they continue their academic journey. She encouraged the working professionals to keep an open mind, build personal networks and lead in their own way.

“You’ve already had significant experiences and found ways to lead in your professions. Continue leading in your own way and in your own right, with the acquired knowledge that you have. This society desperately needs leaders that embody Pro Humanitate and leaders who embody working for positive change, who will bring people together – individuals from diverse experiences and diverse backgrounds – to find solutions to the pressing problems we’re facing today,” she said.

She emphasized that faculty and staff members are there to support students as they navigate the program and partner with them to thrive.

“I’m very proud to learn and hear that you value academic excellence as a key component of why you made this decision,” Wente expressed to students. “Our faculty and staff members work so diligently to ensure that you have opportunities to be challenged and to stretch in terms of what you’re learning, so that when you finish this program, you have the additional opportunities that you’re striving to fulfill.”

The trip was her first comprehensive visit to the Charlotte area since assuming the role as the university’s president on July 1.

“It was a pleasure having President Wente visit our MBA students here at the Charlotte Center.
