In November, the School of Business strengthened its commitment to promoting a global and diverse mindset by launching its inaugural Inclusion Weekend.

Students from underrepresented groups (African-American, Hispanic, Native American) from across the country were invited to apply to this unique event which provides a comprehensive look at careers in business and highlights how a Wake Forest Master’s in Management, Accountancy, or Business Analytics can prepare students for success in a range of professions.

Over ninety students from across the country applied for thirty available seats, prompting the School to raise the overall cap and ultimately thirty-five attended. Those selected to participate received an all-expense paid trip to Wake Forest for the event, and any participant who is accepted into one of the M.S. programs at the School will receive a guaranteed minimum $15,000 scholarship.

A highlight of Inclusion Weekend occurred at the closing dinner where Master’s in Management alumnus and former GM of Global Basketball for Under Armour, Ron Johnson (MSM ’10), spoke to the group about six core life lessons he learned during his career. Johnson credits Wake Forest as a big part of his success, noting in particular a career counselor in the School who challenged him to pursue his hidden dream of working in athletic apparel, and assured him the School wouldn’t let him ‘go it alone.’

While on campus, participants also had the opportunity to network with faculty members, staff, and students/alumni of each program, as well as engaging in group challenge exercises and campus tours.
