The Angell Center for Entrepreneurship

Starting a business is hard but rewarding. The Angell Center for Entrepreneurship unites entrepreneurs, students and faculty in the pursuit of excellence in entrepreneurial outreach, curriculum and research. The Center for Entrepreneurship is a partner and driving force in the Triad region’s innovative business community as well as a resource for students. Whether you are starting a new business venture or strengthening a current one, the Center can help you get the most that Wake Forest has to offer via programs such as:

The Academic Program

The School of Business MBA program offers entrepreneurship electives in Creativity and Feasibility, Family Business Dynamics, Fast-Growth Management, Business Plan Practicum, Financing Entrepreneurial Ventures, Value Creation, and Management of Innovation. A large majority full-time students take one of these entrepreneurship electives and most take two or more. Faculty who teach these courses come from a diverse group of full-time, part-time and executive faculty.

Entrepreneurial Internships

The valuable internship opportunities provide firsthand experience with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists. Interns receive course credit upon completion of an original teaching case with teaching notes based on their experience — a requirement that helps students bridge the theory-to-practice gap that can exist in business programs.

The Medical Technology Transfer Program

The program includes summer entrepreneurial internships, Wake Forest Business Solutions projects and special initiatives such as FastTrac Tech, commercializing the inventions of the WFU Office of Technology Asset Management.

DeacEndeavors (Entrepreneurs Club)

A student organization whose extensive activities include the Entrepreneur’s Roundtable speaker series, company and conference visits and participation in venture capital competitions.

Piedmont Triad Entrepreneurial Network (PTEN)

PTEN jointly sponsors educational programs with the Angell Center to cultivate the entrepreneurial climate of the Piedmont Triad.

The Social Entrepreneurship Initiative

Partnering the resources of Wake Forest University with local nonprofit agencies to pursue the greater good in the Piedmont Triad.

Family Business Center

Helps members create stronger families and thriving businesses by raising awareness of and exploring solutions to family-business issues.
