Stephens to deliver Babcock Leadership Series lecture

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.— Warren A. Stephens, president and chief executive officer of investment banking firm Stephens Inc., will deliver the Babcock Leadership Series lecture at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Room 1312 at the Worrell Professional Center on the Wake Forest University campus in Winston-Salem. Founded in 1933, Stephens Inc. is a privately held, full-service investment banking firm. In the firm's 66-year history, Stephens is only the third person to hold the presidency and chief executive positions, following his father, Jack Stephens, and his uncle, Witt Stephens.

Under Warren Stephens' leadership, which began in 1986, every major division of the firm has expanded. Stephens Inc. now employs more than 700 people. The firm maintains branch offices in Conway, Hot Springs and Fayetteville, Ark., and in Atlanta, Austin, Baton Rouge, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, New York, Oklahoma City, St. Petersburg, and London. Stephens began his investment-banking career as an associate in the corporate finance department at Stephens Inc. He previously served as senior vice president of Stephens Inc. Capital Marketing Group. He also served on the NASD District Conduct Committee for three years, finishing as chairman.

Stephens is a graduate of Washington and Lee University, where he received his BA in economics. He also earned an MBA from the Babcock School. He is active in community and civic affairs and previously served as chairman of the Arkansas Arts Center and served on the Washington and Lee Board of Trustees. He currently is chairman of the Arkansas Arts Center Foundation board, as well as chairman of the Episcopal Collegiate School Foundation board. He also is a member of the board of directors for the Little Rock Boys Club.

The Babcock Leadership Series, which is organized by Babcock School MBA students, focuses on current issues affecting business.
