MSBA Software Installation

Welcome to the Software Installation site for students enrolled in the Master of Science in Business Analytics program at the School of Business.

Before you begin:

  • Review the computer requirements to ensure that your laptop meets the minimum specifications.
  • Make sure you have access to your WFU Google account.  You will need to log in to retrieve the installation files.
  • This process can take some time to complete, so be sure you have a stable internet connection.
  • It is recommended that you install the software while in the United States, access to the installation files may be unavailable while abroad.
  • Install the ALL the software listed below.  You will need this software for your summer classes.

Please note: All installations are for the Windows operating system.

Microsoft Office 2016

download time: 10-15 minutes (depends on internet connection)
installation time: 15-20 minutes

Please Note:  Many new computers come with a trial subscription for Microsoft Office 365.  The School of Business IT Department recommends uninstalling this version of Office 365 prior to installing Office 2016 from OnTheHub.  The version available from OnTheHub does not require a subscription.

Installation Instructions: Microsoft Office 2016 is available for download from OnTheHub Wake Forest’s online software distribution partner.  The following videos outline the process for ordering, downloading and installing Microsoft Office 2016 from OnTheHub.

Troubleshooting

If you receive an error stating “Error: app_not_configured_for_user” (see image below), you may have accidentally authenticated with a personal Gmail Account.  There are two ways to fix this.

Option 1:  Add your @wfu.edu account to your personal gmail account

While logged into your personal Gmail account, click on the Google Account picture and select “Add Account” and enter your @wfu.edu email and password.

The next time you try to log in, you will be able to choose which account to use.  Select your WFU account.

Option 2:  Use an Incognito or Private Window to launch the Course Feedback system

Private or Incognito is a mode that opens a new window where you can browse the Internet in private without your browser saving the sites you visit and without any stored login credentials. You can switch between a private or incognito windows and any regular browsing windows you have open. You’ll only be in “private” or “incognito” mode when you’re using that window.

How to open a Private or Incognito browser window using different browsers:

Windows

  • Chrome: Chrome menu > New incognito window (Ctrl + Shift + N)
  • FireFox: FireFox menu > New Private Window (Ctrl + Shift + P)
  • Internet Explorer: Tools menu > In Private Browsing (Ctrl + Shift + P)
  • Microsoft Edge: More button > In Private Browsing (Ctrl + Shift + P)

Mac

  • Chrome: Chrome menu > New incognito window (⌘ + Shift + N)
  • FireFox: FireFox menu > New Private Window (⌘ + Shift + P)
  • Safari:File > New Private Window (⌘ + Shift + N)
