MA in Management: Curriculum

Your Ten-Month Path to Success

MA Action Learning Modules Diagram

The MA in Management program immerses you in business concepts through four integrated modules.  The program begins in mid July with the Introduction to Business course to get you ready for graduate level courses in business and to help you begin to focus your career interests.  Following this, Module 1 of the integrated academic year kicks-off in August with the objective of helping you develop your personal competencies.  Building on the personal competencies developed in the first module, emphasis shifts to helping develop your managerial competencies in the second module.  Here the goal is to help you acquire the fundamental knowledge required of all business professionals.  Then in the third module you have an opportunity to apply your individual and managerial competencies by addressing issues related to managing an enterprise across functions.  Finally, the objective of the last module is to build on and extend the skills and knowledge acquired in the previous modules by applying it to issues related to competing successfully in a global environment.

In the business world, there is no substitute for hands-on experience.  Given this, Action Learning Projects are an integral part of the MA program whereby students are required to complete three Action Learning Projects in parallel to their studies in Modules 2, 3, and 4.  The purpose of these projects is to create value for the sponsoring organizations while at the same time providing you with the opportunity to apply and reinforce course material utilizing data from an actual organization.
