Full-Time MBA: Why a Wake Forest MBA?

The Wake Forest Schools of Business full-time MBA program offers the individual attention and guidance required to create a uniquely personal experience. Our students become immersed in an environment that encourages individual contributions within a team-oriented structure.

Entrepreneurial Thinking

Unlike traditional entrepreneurship programs, which focus on preparing students to launch their own businesses, Wake Forest takes a broader view. We include new business ventures, corporate ventures within existing companies, service providers who work with new ventures (venture capitalists, consultants, and attorneys), social entrepreneurship within the nonprofit sector, and family and closely held businesses in our definition of entrepreneurship.

Compete and Learn

Our students are competitive, but they’re also cooperative leaders. Our students organize and run national competitions like the Wake Forest Marketing Summit and the Elevator Competition. They recruit nationally known speakers, oversee logistics and scores of necessary details, and manage significant budgets. It's all part of learning through experience.

Integrated Curriculum

Because a course such as Quantitative Methods may apply to several functional areas, Wake Forest instructors present subject matter throughout the academic year, with parts of the course offered when they are most relevant to topics covered in other classes. We don’t teach material in isolation for a semester; that’s not how real business works. As a result, you’ll be prepared to think on your feet when real-life situations call for quick answers—and this is the kind of skill employers look for.

Integrative Exercise

This demanding three-day experience gives first-year student teams a major, strategic organizational problem that encompasses many business functions. Teams are challenged to analyze the problem, evaluate solutions, make recommendations and formally present them to a faculty team. This intense exercise tests the ability of the team to apply skills learned in the classroom to a complex business problem and develop an effective solution under time constraints.

Career Concentrations

After building a foundation in functional areas during their first year, second-year students hone their skills through a career concentration in consulting/management, health, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, or operations management. Some independently design their own concentrations.

Corporate Connections

Our Career Management Center staff works to help students assess their career options, refine their career goals, network with well-placed corporate contacts, and ultimately, find the right career. Wake Forest alumni frequently work with students and the school to fill positions at their firms. Our staff also helps students build job search skills to enhance lifelong career progression.

Teamwork

Students develop teamwork skills during Orientation and throughout the first year as a member of a study team. The real business world operates in teams of people from diverse backgrounds, and so does Wake Forest.
