Find Yourself at Wake Forest
BusinessWeek has recognized the Wake Forest University undergraduate business program as one of the best undergraduate business schools in the United States by ranking it 14th out of the top 50 programs in the country. More importantly, we tied for first place in academic quality.
Why?
Wake Forest's scholar-teachers encourage an international outlook, innovation, teamwork and ethical behavior, pushing students to articulate and support their positions in writing and presentations.
We can do this because we have kept our community intentionally small, making it possible for students, faculty and alumni to develop strong personal and professional connections. We not only help students acquire and practice the technical skills of business, we also help them find their calling. As a result, our students graduate work-ready and driven to achieve.

Career Development
Wake Forest University is committed to helping you find a strong direction for your career and your life. In the Wake Forest University Ernst & Young Professional Development Center, you can get academic advice and career counseling, work to develop personal brand strategies, hone time management skills, learn about corporate politics, gain experience working in diverse teams, and ready yourself for your job search.
As part of the Business & Enterprise Management core curriculum, BEM majors participate in a series of Professional Development Workshops. These workshops ensure that students will possess not only the motivation and expertise necessary to succeed, but also the additional development of self-awareness, personal management, broad-based communication and interpersonal effectiveness that will allow them to excel.
Global perspective
Global themes are woven throughout our programs through specific courses, study abroad opportunities, classroom discussions and our international study tours.
- Study abroad and exchange experiences in places as far-reaching as Moscow, Beijing, London, Nepal, Vietnam, amongst others. Approximately 40% of our undergraduates study abroad.
- Minors in Global Trade and Commerce and International Studies.
- International Business Study Tours to China/Hong Kong, Japan, Latin America and India.
Hands-on learning
Recognizing the challenges of today's business climate, Wake Forest wants you to get involved inside and outside the classroom through internships, class projects, meetings with business and civic leaders, student activities, or international study tours.
Business and Enterprise Management majors, for example, are required to participate in a 200-hour, five-week internship, write about the benefits and challenges of their experiences, and present a portfolio of their work.
Entrepreneurial Leadership
Wake Forest infuses entrepreneurial thinking throughout both our undergraduate and graduate programming, so students become accustomed to thinking innovatively regardless of their career path.
In addition we offer an interdisciplinary minor for undergraduates in Entrepreneurship, host the WFU Elevator Competition--an international business plan contest--and support the Angell Center for Entrepreneurship, a leader in connecting faculty and students with local business projects.
Teamwork
Understanding the value of teamwork is vital to a successful career.
At Wake Forest students work regularly in teams with people of diverse backgrounds. Learning to build and participate in highly effective teams readies students to excel in the real and virtual teams that characterize global business today.
As one student put it, "Wake Forest's focus on team-based learning prepared me for the world beyond the classroom."
Communication
Whether you are "building your personal brand" through social networking or pitching an idea for venture capital, strong writing and public speaking skills are essential.
Our small class sizes become de facto communication laboratories where students get real experience exchanging ideas with faculty and classmates, honing writing and presentation skills and supporting their ideas with data. As a result, Wake Forest students graduate confident in their ability to put forth an idea and back it up.
Dedicated Faculty
Wake Forest faculty members are scholars, teachers, and in many cases, practitioners as well. Actively engaged in research and publication for leading scholarly journals, our professors also develop cases, textbooks and other classroom materials.
More than 90% of our full-time faculty members hold a PhD or other doctoral degree.
Personal Connections
By keeping our programs small and inviting alumni to participate, we make it possible for students, faculty and former students to develop close personal and professional connections--connections that pay off during job searches and business launches.
These close connections also reap dividends as students investigate different career paths. By offering students advice, internship connections and points of contact, we can help them discover their life's work.
Average Class Size: 24
Student/Faculty Ratio: 14:1
