Enterprise Risk ManagementThe Enterprise Risk Management program leverages Wake Forest University's strong undergraduate business and liberal arts education with an enterprise approach to risk management to produce well rounded, highly motivated, and intelligent graduates. The program provides students with an integrative understanding of risk that is complemented by a hands-on work experience in the field of risk management. Program coursework includes two courses in risk management along with a relevant risk management internship. The initial course is offered in the spring semester of the junior year, and provides an introduction to both pure and speculative risks, as well as an understanding of how to identify, evaluate, and manage risks across an organization. Summer Internships offer students hands-on experience in a specific area of risk management. The internship experience also serves as the foundation for the second course in risk management, which uses student internship experiences as the basis for seminar discussions. In addition, the second course integrates modules from various disciplines such as information systems, business strategy, operations, and finance. Directed by Merrill Lynch Associate Professor Jonathan Duchac, the program currently has numerous students in summer internships. Marsh, Chubb, AIG, Morgan Stanley, Duke Energy, and many others have agreed to support the program and employ Schools of Business interns. Wake Forest and the Schools of Business, ranked among the top tier of educational institutions in the country, provide a strong academic base for the new program. Incoming freshmen have an average SAT score of 1310, and 86% of freshmen rank in the top 20% of their high school class. This pool of students, grounded in a strong liberal arts education during their freshmen and sophomore years, provides an excellent population from which to draw future leaders in business and risk management.
