A Questioning Preparation

Here lies my first entry about the Babcock 2008 International Practicum in China. Before we delve any further into this adventure I must introduce myself to the "blogosphere." My name is Jody Moore, I am in the Executive Fast Track Program at Babcock. When I am not working towards my MBA, I am the Emergency Management Coordinator for the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC where I am responsible for disaster preparation and response.

In addition to those pursuits, the most important thing in my life is my family; I will be leaving in North Carolina my beautiful wife Christy and two great dogs.

Well, as I sit in my house in High Point, NC I find myself filled with questions and anticipation about our impending trip to China. Up until yesterday it was the traditional pre-travel wonderments, do I have everything I need, how many this or that will I need, how bad is the jetlag going to be, you know, the usual. In addition to that, I honestly wondered, will they do business that differently there? Then yesterday the news hit about the earthquake in Sichuan Province. So you can imagine the disaster responder in me is now a little curious. Now I wonder how the Chinese government responds to a disaster, what about the health system, and honestly will our trip be impacted? So the questions morphed a little but the anticipation is definitely still there.

So check back often and hopefully learn the answer to those questions and many more.

Of course I meant Jody... it's a little late (or early) and sleep has been hard to come by lately... :)

Hey Jo!

What a great site!! We have a very close friend who is living in HongKong (a fellow appstate grad who does business over there and is also from Greensboro) He loves meeting up with fellow expats so I'm going to try and get you guys hooked up - Don't know how much time you hae, but even if it's just for a dinner, he can really show you the town and point you in the right direction for eating and shopping.

Let me know where you will be staying in Hong Kong and a way for him to contact you and I will try and get the two of you together!

Have a great time!

Angela
